| Reconnect |
The Reconnect program uses community-based early intervention services to bring about family
reconciliation for young people aged 12 to 18 years who are homeless, or at risk of homelessness,
and their families.
Reconnect helps these young people improve their level of engagement with family,
services and their local community. The program covers the Cities of Whittlesea, Darebin and Yarra.
The service model is based on outreach to young people, families and communities in Melbourne’s
Northern Corridor.
Reconnect provides a range of services:
- Individual support, counselling and advocacy
- Family support and mediation
- Information and referral
- Lifeskills programs
- Facilitation of opportunities for youth participation and
- Service system development and co-ordination
Action research is a key component of the Reconnect program.
For Reconnect's early intervention methods to be effective,
all services – government and non-government - need to respond to their clients
needs using a reflective and improvement-orientated approach to service delivery.
