School Focused Youth Service - SFYS

School Focused Youth Service (SFYS) is a DEECD initiative supporting prevention and early intervention models for vulnerable young people between 10 – 18 yrs. This includes young people in all Government, Catholic and Independent schools. SFYS aims to link the schooling community with broader support systems within the region thereby creating strong sustainable relationships that are meaningful and beneficial for young people.

Kildonan UnitingCare hosts the program for Whittlesea Local Government Area.

The School Focused Youth Service program also facilitates brokerage opportunities for projects between school and agencies. Individual brokerage is available to assist young people aged 10-18 years, with ‘one off’ needs. Applications may be made throughout the year by schools or agencies for up to $500 to assist a young person.

For more information, contact our Main Office on (03) 8401 0100 or email info@kildonan.org.au.

Healthy Minds

Youth services, Austin CAMHS and Northern Headspace have in partnership developed ‘Healthy Minds’, a mental health resource booklet for Secondary Schools in Whittlesea.

The booklet is aimed at assisting schools with the implementation of mental health initiatives to support student wellbeing.

The ‘Healthy Minds’ booklet includes information on local mental health support services and a guide for school staff to accessing curriculum material, fact sheets and websites. In acknowledgement of the recent bushfires, the booklet also features a section on bushfire specific recovery resources.

Partying Smart

Kildonan's Partying Smart program is supported by Ansvar Insurance, and delivers early intervention sessions for young people in Years 9 and 10 and VCAL, aimed to address the potential harm that may occur when young people attend parties. Consisting of sessions for students and parents, the program offers information and strategies on how to deal with the leadup, the party and aftermath.
